PHILOSOPHY:

We believe that the basic function of the College of Nursing is to educate young women in the art, science, and spirit of nursing, in order to prepare them to assist the individual, family, and community in recognizing, understanding, and meeting health needs through promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services. If the condition necessitates, we also aim to help individuals experience a peaceful death.

We take a holistic view of health by firmly adhering to the Catholic Christian ethical code, believing in the sacredness of human life and the dignity of the person.

We believe that the BSc Nursing course is a formal educational preparation based on sound educational principles. This education is directed towards the development of nursing students as individuals, citizens, and professional nurses.

We believe that nursing education provides a foundation for the practice of nursing as well as a basis for more advanced nursing education, motivating students to pursue continuing education.

We believe that knowledge requires continuous progress, and proper learning processes require a free environment.

We accept that nursing education must be dynamic, open to new ideas, and keep pace with new scientific discoveries in the health field and evolving concepts in the behavioral sciences.

We believe that nursing education and skills are based on scientific principles. These principles help restore normal life functions, assess patients' physical and emotional states, and formulate and implement plans for better care.

We believe that we have a responsibility to help students develop pride in their profession and guide them toward continuing their education for a promising future.

We believe that the graduate nurse works as a change agent. She is responsible, self-directed, knowledgeable, creative, and possesses stable emotions.

OBJECTIVES:

• Have a broad concept of the fundamental principles of quality nursing care and demonstrate skill in providing nursing care to people of all age groups based on principles of physical, biological and behavioral sciences in an institution or in a community setting.


• Develop knowledge, skills, attitude and aptitude in giving comprehensive care to the clients who manifest physical, social and mental conditions.


• Cooperate with other members of the health team in hospital or community in the prevention of disease, promotion of health, restoration of health, and rehabilitation.


• Demonstrate competence in nursing skills, techniques, and participate, cooperate, and coordinate as a member of the health team in the promotion, prevention, and restoration of health.


• Develop skills in teaching formally and informally in the classroom setting, in clinical areas, and in the community field.


• Demonstrate managerial skills and communication skills.


• Develop and demonstrate benevolent leadership qualities of integrity, responsibility, understanding, and take the right decisions in various situations.


• Uphold ethical and Christian values and practice ethical values in personal and professional life.


• Recognize the need for continued learning and for personal and professional growth.
